The language of color: a name, a person and a statistic.

Red as a color rhymes with read (past tense of reading). What's black and white and read all over?

Readymade: abutments of vertically oriented objects (sections) that become horizontal when grouped together. Symbolic unions except when vertical emphasis appears, for example,  from a gymnasium floor, the markings of a basketball court, referencing a game itself that emphasizes verticality.

Some unformed thoughts about Rauschenberg's Combines and Judd's Specific Objects also come to mind. Physical objects that confronted from the front appear flat, from an angle dimension, volume, time. The discrepancy between surface appearances (judging books by covers, for example) seems apropos to consider alongside depth in whatever dimension along such axes.

Altor Lajarin "Crickets" @ Heritage Square Museum

For this exhibition, I was reminded just how much work can either by absorbed by or conversely activate a space, dependent on situation within the site, itself a long list of non-neutral signs.
