Frederick Hammersley "Organics and Cut-ups 1963-1965" @ LA Louver

There is a lot that could be said about Hammersley's paintings. In fact, there should be.  Alas, my time at the moment does not allow me to expand.  Suffice it to say that there is a lot going on here between organic and geometric, between analytic rigor and synthetic playfulness, reason, irrationality, structure, color, paint handling, responsiveness, and thoughtfulness. Enjoy the images, even if a camera shortchanges the nuances.
