There are numerous ways to look at things, to categorize them, to understand--to think about them all. Ruth knows this. A book by its cover; a painting by its surface. Depth as a matter of sequence, steps in space, and the time that it takes. Centers. Beginnings. Ends. It has been a Borgesian summer, as of late... Colors (or not so much) and materiality (facade). The pleasure of speaking titles and sharing them. What happens at the front of something is qualitatively very different from what goes on inside.
